coming back

I have been working quite a lot even though  I have not updated this blog in a while. My theme is people, which has been my main focus for a while now. I have worked from sketches I made from life and developed them into paintings in oils or acrylic.
I work again on hardwood board using a palette knife because I can create "body" and surface texture much better this way. The board takes some heavy handling with the pallette knife and it's a solid support for the impasto technique.
I've also read somewhere, that works on board survive for much longer than those on canvas, which is an added bonus.

Still life - Oil on canvas

All paintings oil on canvas, painted from life. Items I find around me in my home that capture my attention for their colour, shape and generally their beauty.
